Essex Air Ambulance Tour, Earls Colne Airfield, Essex.

Myself and my children were recently invited to attend a tour at the base of the Essex Air Ambulance in Earls Colne.

I personally did not know that tours were available & I thoroughly recommend that people attend.

We learned so much about what the Air Ambulance can do and about the crew. For example, the helicopter will not take off without a full team on board comprising of a Pilot, a Paramedic and a Doctor.

The Paramedic has to complete a University course to be able to fly on the helicopter as they are also the Navigator.

The helicopter has everything on board that the crew could possibly need to perform procedures whilst attending a accident scene.

My children (aged 9, 10, 12 & 13) really enjoyed the talk as well as seeing the helicopter and also the vehicle used when the helicopter is unable to fly such as at night.

The Air Ambulance is run completely on donations and receives no Government funding, to donate visit here: http://local.mumsnet.com/essex and click the advert to the right hand side.

For details of booking a tour please contact Essex Air Ambulance: reception@ehaat.uk.com or 0845 2417 688.

GET INVOLVED WITH NCS THIS YEAR WITH SOUTHEND UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB
NCS – IT ALL STARTS AT YES
Delivered by Southend United Community and Educational Trust, you can have the experience of a lifetime this year with every young person who signs up to the programme receiving 2 free tickets to a Southend United FC match.

Southend United FC is once again proud to be offering the National Citizen Service in 2014. This is a great opportunity to not only get involved with your local Football Club, but also meet new people, try new activities, gain qualifications and give back to your local community, all of which will help you stand out from the crowd. With 3 projects running in 2014 there’s never been a better time to get involved

‘In a football team you have to work together to achieve results, this is very similar to what NCS promotes. This project allows young people to work together to overcome fears and excel themselves, as well as allowing them to help the local community in the process. The project is a great way to get involved, meet new people and show everyone just what amazing role models young people can be and what they have to offer’
John White – Southend United FC First Team Captain

What Southend NCS grads are saying…
‘My favourite part of NCS was Jacobs ladder. I worked with someone in my team to get right to the top, overcoming my fear of heights in the process. I’d definitely volunteer again because it looks good on my CV and I feel like I’ve worked hard to help someone else. I’ve learnt I can work well in a team and share responsibility. I really enjoyed the project and would recommend to anyone!’
Luke Bunce – Southend United NCS Graduate
